For those of you who don't know, Bennigan's closed at the end of July 2008, screwing
a bunch of good people. My girlfriend was a GM for Bennigan's and was filling in for her AD when they got the call that they were done. Talk about a bad day.
All of the stores around the DFW are have been sitting there just as they were left the day they were closed. A couple of them had to have the windows boarded up due to vandalism, but other than that, there has been no change. Now the rumor mill is cranking out rumors of a "re-opening" for some of these stores. Don't get me wrong, the franchises did not close, but how profitable and efficient do you think they are when there is no longer a corporate office? Not very I bet. Either way, the current rumor is that some company that Bennigan's owed money to is going to re-open some of them with maybe 30 being here in Dallas. They are supposed to bring them back as "Burgers and Beer" bars, like they were meant to be. I drove by this one the other day (Northwest Highgway & 35) and saw that there were actually people outside working on something. Yes, I know the truck says National Door and Repair, but they were inside the electrical boxes doing something. No telling.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what the future holds. Until next time....Slainte!! Haha!!
